Ace broadcaster, Muky Emelda Igwe, is set to debut a
no-holds-barred talk-show on one of Nigeria’s leading television network, the
African Independent Television (AIT).
Muky, a graduate of Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ)
and renowned journalist of international repute, says she was determined to
contribute her quota to the emancipation of the country from its my raids of
vicissitudes being faced by the nation.
beyond the facade of classy and top fashion brands she
flaunts at her exquisite fashion shop in Lagos, Muky’s penchant for human
development is prompting her to set machinery in motion for the TV show which
brand name she is still keeping to her chest.
In a word with her, Muky said that she intended to feature
great and highly successful Nigerians from various sectors to share their
experiences from their struggling days, how they were able to surmount the
challenges and how they have been able to manage their successes.
This, she believed, would be a forum for teeming youths of the
country to reenergise their minds and help them set a right career path for the
future.
She is passionate about what millions of Nigerians are
presently going through and as such would want to educate Nigerians on the need
to re-position their minds and strive for the best.
According to Muky, the prevailing harsh economic situation in the country have been
interpreted in so many ways, a situation that has led people to engage in all
kinds of nefarious activities. “Some people blame their situation on leaders of
the economy while others attribute their misfortune to inherited
un-progressiveness”.
All these and more, she added have had so much negative
effect on the fortune of the country. To her, these have equally been
responsible for the group of Nigerians that engage in atrocities like robbery,
kidnapping and other social vices.
She, however, maintained that people that have been trapped
in these vices could get out of it if only they knew how successful and
enviable Nigerians today were able to wade through their tough times. This,
indeed are people that merits to be referred to as celebrities.
“This would be a great challenger that would be an
encourager to the youths of today”.
Being a celebrity, to me, means “You must have gone through
difficulties in life and able to surmount the challenges and record success in
your chosen career. Such experience has a way of encouraging someone who’s
probably facing similar challenges or even different or stiffer difficulties”.
Her passion, she said, was driven based on the prevailing
trends of economic doldrums and hardship being experienced by Nigerians.
“People need encouragements and highly-inspiring stories that could motivate
them to forge ahead and mould their vision to be able to pursue their set
goals”.
According to Muky, “Difficulties, in itself has reasons for
moulding and re-sharpening people’s vision for a better tomorrow. We need to
learn from it and come out more refined. The subsequent effect of this is that
it reshapes our desires and vision and of course, has positive goals and great
impact on the society as a whole. And of course, the nation becomes better for
it”.
For now, Muky is keeping the title of the programme close to
her chest for obvious reasons but arrangements are in top gear to kick off with
the programme on AIT.
The programme is being staged under able supervision of an
ex- Daily Times, Prime People, Punch and Publisher of UK-based Empire
International Magazine/Safari News Online, Dele Aberuagba. Muky Emelda Igwe
will be presenting with Dele Aberuagba as Director.
