Lagos LG Polls: PDP candidates are running on the party’s
platform- Oghene -Egoh
The Member representing Amuwo Odofin Constituency, Lagos
State in House of Representatives, Honourable Emmanuel Oghene Egoh has said
that the Lagos PDP candidates are contesting under the party tickets and not
under any other platform in the Local Government election taking place today in
Lagos State.
He said some people are parading themselves as Labour /PDP
in places like Amuwo Odofin, Ajeromi Ifelodun and other Local Government Areas
in Lagos State, deceiving the public, especially Ndigbo that Labour Party is
PDP.
Oghene- Egoh noted that the National Chairman of PDP,
Senator Ahmed Makarfi, is solidly behind PDP and no letter was issued by him to
discredit Lagos PDP as against some elements propagating lies about a letter by
him that discredits the party in the state. “It is obvious for everyone to see
that the Labour Party is in deep crisis at the moment because money was not
remitted to their National treasury, that is why they are out there campaigning
that they are PDP in order to get the support of Ndigbo and others who have
sympathy for PDP.
Oghene -Egoh who explained that he is loyal to Makarfi
leadership, even before his victory at the Supreme Court said the success story
is for all the members of the party nationwide. “The issues rocking the PDP in
Lagos was not about Makarfi\Sheriff issue, but rather was between the Bode
George group and the independent group. The Bode George group is made up of
Bode George loyalists in the party, while the independent group is made up of
elected members of PDP, both at the State and Federal level. The Bode George
group chose to defect to Labour Party, after losing in the primaries against
the Independent group who chose to remain and fly the PDP flag.”
The Reps member noted that he is still an active member of
PDP and therefore called on the good people of Amuwo Odofin, Oriade and other
areas in Lagos State to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party. “I am fully in
PDP. And, it is not true that I have decamped to another political party. Hons
Rita Orji, Tony Nwole, Tajudeen Obasa Soyinka and Shodinmu are also all in PDP
body and soul. And, we are representing the party at the Federal House of
Representatives under Senator Ahmed Makarfi led group. Six of the elected
members of PDP who attended the caucus meeting of the party recently with
Makarfi, remain an integral part of his PDP in NASS led by Hon Leo Ogor.”
He therefore warned dishonest politicians seeking cheap
votes to desist from peddling fake news, and be bold enough to tell members of
the public the truth about the Labour party they are using. “We will not allow
our people to be deceived by those who want to encourage fraud and lies. We
therefore implore PDP supporters to come out en- mass to vote the original PDP
that won the court case.”
