Kelechi Iheanacho could feature for Manchester City in their
eagerly anticipated Champions League Round of 16, Game 2 tie against Monaco at
Stade Louis II tonight.
The Taye Academy product first trained with the Citizens
squad yesterday before hopping on a plane bound for the Principality of Monaco.
According to the official website of UEFA, City have
registered Iheanacho on their player list B alongside Tosin Adarabioyo, but the
young central defender is unlikely to feature having played against Arsenal in
Premier League on Monday.
The Citizens will be
looking to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League for a second
consecutive season on Wednesday when they take on Monaco at the Stade Louis II.
City prevailed 5-3 in an incredible first leg at the Etihad
Stadium despite falling behind twice either side of Radamel Falcao missing a
penalty for the Ligue 1 leaders.
Since their last meeting, Man City have won three and drawn
one of their four matches – extending their unbeaten run across all
competitions to 11 matches. Man City progressed to the last four of the FA Cup
on Saturday with a 2-0 victory at Middlesbrough.
Ligue 1 leaders Monaco have won all four of their matches
since the first leg, including Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bordeaux.
